Kris is a native of Palm Beach County, having grown up in Boca Raton and Lake Worth. He graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Sciences and later earned a Masters of Arts degree from Pepperdine University in Instructional Technology. Kris has been a teacher for 30 years, serving as an elementary school classroom teacher, science lab teacher, Innovation Specialist, District Technology Specialist, and Planetarium Director. In addition, he has served as an Educator Fellow for several NASA planetary missions and educational programs. He led a team of five teachers through a NASA Microgravity mission, running experiments while flying 32 parabolas in a Zero-G training aircraft.
Over the last decade, Kris has built robots, submarines, mechanical toys, electronics projects, and other amazing things with his students both at Pine Crest School and at Young Makers Lab (YML), the independent makerspace for kids he started and co-owned from 2014 - 2021. He was the first Innovation Specialist hired on the Boca Raton Campus to help build Pine Crest School’s Innovation program in 2015. Kris worked with school administration, outside architects, and contractors to design and construct three iLabs on two campuses and lead curriculum development and new staff training in Pine Crest’s iLabs.
Kris is currently the Director of Educational Technology, Lower and Middle School Robotics, and Esports as well as the Upper School Computer Science and Technology Specialist. He works with Upper School students and teachers to integrate technology into Pine Crest’s existing curriculum. He helps teachers use Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning, AR/VR, and Computer Science with their students while coaching Upper School eSports and coordinating Lower and Middle School Competitive Robotics on both campuses.
